Tons of fun...

Satuday- After a breakfast of tacos I decided that Bryan and I would take the kids to Natural Bridge Caverns. It's only like 30 minutes away and now that Brityn is 3 and Caden is 5 it seemed like a cool place to take them. I loved that kind of science-y stuff as a kid. So we lined up Grandma as our impromptu babysitter and headed out.
I knew it would be quite a bit of walking, so we stopped at a nearby store to load up on Gatorade and some salty and sugary crap for the kids to snack on. It was then that I realized that I left the camera in Rylen's diaper bag at Grandma's house. Me..I love to take pictures of everything. I take the freakin camera everywhere I go, so it killed me that I was going to not be able record this spelunking experience on camera. Total bummer.
We made it up to the place and I bought a crappy disposable kodak in the over priced gift shop. I'll settle for that over nothing. We trek down to the cave entrance, where we listen to a teenager tell us what we are and are not allowed to do. She tells us that food or drinks are not allowed in the caves. It's about 100 degrees outside with a heat index of like 112, and we have to walk in a f'n cave 3/4 of a mile and not drink anything?!? So the large Gatorade bottle in my back pack is useless.
When we get in there they explain to us that we are not to touch anything. I have a 3 year old and a 5 year told with very busy hands. I relay it to them in "mom's terms" telling them "if you touch anything a big bat may bite your finger." Mean? Well sometimes that's the only way to get through to them. It began with a slippery decent, we took a good hold of their hands so that we don't lose them to whatever the hell is in the dark areas below us. It really did scare the crap out of me, being the nervous mom I am. It was stifling in there. 70-something degrees but 99% humidity, mom and dad are sweating here. Oh but it was beautiful. We traveled the entire length of the cave and I explained to them what a stalactite and stalagmite was, and that each formation was created out of water dripping down over thousands of years. Brit of course didn't understand but Caden seemed interested. They enjoyed all the twisting and turning, ducking under rocks, and getting "cave kissed" that was when you felt a drop of water on you. Toward the end of the tour we had to make our way up out of the cave. Oh my God, was that an experience. I, the fat ass, was so exhausted going up the steep exit for what seemed like forever. Had I not contained myself I may have been huffing and puffing. I am no longer the Kim that used to dance for hours on end, those days are no more so is that body. I am so out of shape it's embarrassing. Well I birthed 3 children in 5 years - I guess I should cut myself some slack here. But we made our way out and that is where the Gatorade came in handy. The kids were tired but boy did they bounce back. They had way too much energy for me for the rest of the day.
So it was a fun fun day. We were happy to get back to my RyRy, and come home to relax. As much as I could with sore legs.
Today we just went to church, then came home to do a quick clean up, then back to Mom and Dad's for a steak dinner. I'm so glad to be home to a clean house. Bryan is packing up cause he's in Houston all week, and I'm mentally preparing myself for a week of being a single parent. Yippee.
Sorry no pics, I forgot the stupid camera remember? Hope everyone had a fun weekend.
